Seed Variety Naming Project

FP GENETICS HONOURS VETERANS THROUGH VARIETY NAMING

In collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command, we seek to recognize and highlight veterans for their sacrifices made in service of community and country. The legislation that applies to naming plant varieties operates on the principle of ”One Variety – One Name”. This affords us a unique, timeless and global opportunity to recognize veterans for their contributions to Canada by naming new crop varieties in their honour.

All can participate! The Legion’s Saskatchewan Command will accept applications from all provinces, Canada wide. Since its inception, this program has named over 20 new varieties after deserving veterans.
